Commencement of Cloudstor™ (VAiOS Private Cloud HDFS Storage Service)

I-NET CORP. (hereinafter, “I-NET”) has developed the storage service “Cloudstor™”, a cloud service constructed from Hadoop distributed file systems that will be newly added on to the VAiOS private cloud service provided through one of Japan’s top class newly built data centers, and provision of this service to corporate clients will commence on February 1, 2011. |

From the perspectives of simplicity of installation and cost reduction, the attention of IT in many companies is focusing on cloud type services. As a shared application of I-NET’s VAiOS private cloud service, “Cloudstor™” offers the online storage service mechanism that is standard for public cloud as a security assured, safe and low cost service for companies. |
|

Furthermore, in addition to the standard storage service, we will extend the scope of our activities to include systems integration business projects to install Hadoop to existing provided systems. |

1. Online storage deployed via Hadoop/REST interface |
|
| |
“Cloudstor™” adopts the “Hadoop Distributed File System”, the de-facto standard for public cloud services in the US, and “REST interface”, a Web2.0 technology, to build a scalable storage system that supports future service expansion. |

2. Access is possible anytime, anywhere without having to choose between devices such as PCs or smartphones |
|
| |
Users can gain access freely using Windows PCs and iPhones, iPads or smartphones and terminals that use Android. In addition, “Cloudstor™” can be used through a variety of networks such as internal LANs or WANs, WiFi/Hotspots, WIMAX and 3G/LTE, etc. |

3. “Cloudstor™” is a low cost service, even when compared to established storage services |
|
| |
This online storage system, built using Hadoop/REST interface, has significant merits in terms of cost even when compared to established systems using NAS or SATA Disk, and can be utilized easily even when handling high data volumes. |

| |
4. With private cloud, security for companies is also assured |
|
| |
As this service is contained within security systems designed for companies, it can be used without safety concerns. In addition, as it is possible to verify the storage location, the service can be used by companies that deploy their business activities based on ISMS or Privacy Mark. |

5. Line-up includes on-premise services |
|
| |
Where needed, in addition to the cloud services provided through our data center, we can also deploy an on-premise service whereby we build and operate the relevant storage service within our customer’s data center. This allows use without safety concerns when data cannot be deployed externally. |

In contrast to common online storage services, “Cloudstor™” operates on I-NET’s VAiOS platform, which realizes security and high availability, and is provided as a private cloud service for companies. Other than use by individuals within companies, “Cloudstor™” can also be utilized for information sharing between groups within companies. The number of necessary users and the required storage capacity can be selected and used freely. “Cloudstor™” applications are downloaded and installed to PCs and smartphones for use. |
